A small practice for private AI
AI that stays where your data already lives.
Most smaller companies don’t need another chatbot in someone else’s cloud. They need a model that can read their files, help their people, and leave the sensitive parts where they are.
That’s the work we do at Octo.
Who you’re talking to
I’m Dan. I’ve spent more than ten years building and securing production systems — large Kubernetes migrations, the error work that follows, and the security cleanup that never quite ends. I’m a CISSP.
I work with a network partner who has fourteen years in enterprise networks and cloud, and a CISSP of his own. Between us we’ve lived inside environments with hundreds of firewalls and well over a hundred thousand devices.
We bring that same care to companies that don’t have a security department of their own.
The work
Three things, usually in that order. Nothing more until the first one is clear.
- 01
A model you can point at
Local language models, agents, and a small knowledge base that stay on infrastructure you control. If it has to leave the building, we say so before we build it.
- 02
The network under it
Tunnels, cloud networks, access. The unglamorous part that decides whether “private” is actually true — AWS included, when that’s where you already live.
- 03
A boundary you can explain
What the system may see, who may ask it, and how you’ll know if that changes. Governance, said in plain language instead of a framework diagram.
Who this is for
Smaller businesses that want AI to be useful, and also need proprietary files, client records, or regulated material to stay inside an environment they manage. If a public chatbot is fine for the job, we’ll tell you that too.
The first hour is free
We look at how you work today, what you actually want the model to do, and whether a private setup is the right move.
You’ll leave with three things, said plainly:
- Where a local model or agent could help — and where it wouldn’t.
- What has to stay put, and what that means for the network.
- A next step: a small pilot, a security look, or nothing.
No obligation, and no follow-up sequence unless you ask for one.
